Leading foreign companies specialized in fish and aquaculture processing and commercialization on home and international markets, following a managerial model of sustainable development and a reliable processing system, have implemented an Environmental Management System (EMS) by developing the following basic principles.

The companies follow national environmental legislation in use and other environmental commitments to which they have voluntarily subscribed which guarantee the conservation of the companies' environmental surroundings.

They develop mechanisms that prevent environmental pollution. Among them there are such measures as identifying and evaluating the environmental aspects and minimizing their real or potential environmental impacts.

These companies permanently look for continuous improvement by optimizing technological operations in the use of renewable and non-renewable natural resources.

They commit suppliers and contractors in order to accomplish an adequate environmental performance in their facilities. Also they assume the responsibility of motivating and providing their employees with the knowledge and fulfillment of the environmental policy. This policy must be handed to every employee and will be available to everybody.

One of the basic principles is to contribute to the improvement of the quality of life in the communities they are present and generate health projects, education and recreation of people not only working for the companies but also living in near by communities.

Every year they develop reforestation projects. Periodically they monitor and evaluate all the effluents within the production process areas. The companies follow ISO procedures for the responsible and safe management and disposal of the conventional and toxic wastes, like fuels and used batteries.

Undoubtedly to provide all these measures it is necessary to keep open and collaborative relationships with clients, authorities, neighbours and others.
