Exercise 1. Look at the pictures. Make a topic about one of the following social problems (10-12 sentences).

 

 

Exercise 2. Answer the following questions.

 

· What are the main social problems in your country?

· In what way can they be solved?

· Do you agree that social problems often give rise to crime?

 

Exercise 3. Make a discussion about one of the crimes below:

assassination, blackmail, bribery, drug dealing, kidnapping, murder, smuggling, terrorism, theft, vandalism.

 

Exercise 4. Have you ever read the book by Charles Dickens “Oliver Twist” or probably seen the film? Listen to James Freedman (being interviewed on the radio), an ex-magician, worked as the “pickpocket consultant” for Roman Polanski’s film “Oliver Twist” Fill the gaps. [1, T3.1, p.37], [Part III p. 158].
