Запомните следующие прилагательные, оканчивающи­еся на -:

elderly — пожилой

early — ранний

fatherly — отеческий

friendly —дружелюбный

lively — оживленный

lonely — одинокий

lovely — чудесный

motherly — материнский

silly — глупый

ugly — уродливый

 

Запомните английское наречие well (хорошо)!

She is a goodrunner. She runs well! — Она хорошая бегунья. Она бегает хорошо!

• Некоторые слова могут быть и прилагательными, и наречиями.

• Некоторые наречия имеют две формы, разные по зна­чению.

 

deep — глубоко   deeply — очень, в большой степени
direct— прямо, непосредст­венно directly — немедленно, тотчас
easy — спокойно и нетороп­ливо easily — без труда
free — бесплатно freely — свободно, вольно
full— очень fully — полностью, вполне
hard — усердно, много hardly — едва, почти не
high — высоко highly — много, очень
last— после всех lastly— наконец
late — поздно lately — недавно
near— близко nearly — почти
pretty — едва prettily — красиво, привлека­тельно
short — резко, внезапно shortly— вскоре, незадолго
sure — конечно surely — наверняка
wide — широко, мимо цели widely— в большом коли­честве, повсюду
wrong — неправильно wrongly — несправедливо

 

• Наречие hardly часто используется с:

 

any / anybody / anyone / anything / anywhere

 

How many friends have you got? — Hardly any. Hardly an­ybody likes me. (Очень мало. Я практически никому не нравлюсь.)

 

— ever: hardly ever (практически никогда)

 

I hardly every buy chocolate. — Я практически никогда не покупаю шоколад.

 

can / could + hardly

 

I was tired out. I could hardly walk. — Я очень устал. Я едва мог идти.
