What questions do you usually ask when you want to get acquainted with someone?

What can you advise a teenager who has no friends?

I can advise him to be more sociable. He may join some clubs and make friends with young people who have the same interests. For example, we have a very good tourist club at our lyceum and students enjoy going on trips. After the trips they enjoy singing tourist songs and chattering about their impressions there. I can advise him to join this club. He will certainly make a lot of friends there.

Nowadays people prefer to have more money than many friends. What do you think about it?

There are wise words “Money can buy you a bed but not sleep. Money can buy you medicine but not health. Money can buy you a house but not home. Money can buy you company but not friends.” Sothere are things more important than money. In my opinion, friendship is certainly more precious than money.

Let’s talk about education.

Let’s talk about our lyceum.

I study at Mogilev Regional Lyceum No 1. The lyceum is situated in a large three-storeyed building. It was built in the 19th century as a school for the daughters of clergymen. After the World War II there was a teachers’ training college and then a boarding-school here. It became a lyceum in 1990. The lyceum has a hall of residence (a dormitory) where students from other towns live.

I must say that you need to take exams to enter our lyceum. Students here can major in such subjects as Maths and Physics or Information Technology, Chemistry and Biology, languages, History and Social Studies.

My major subjects are …. We study our majors at an advanced level so we have extra classes in them. I think I’m good at … . But I have problems with … .

Do you agree that our school gives a person a good start in life? Why (not)?

I agree that our school gives a person a good start in life. The teachers of our lyceum are talented, hard-working and enthusiastic people. Their lessons are always interesting and educating. As a result many of our students enter

3. Ask me whether I liked school when I was a pupil.

Many things are important if you want to be good at languages. Listen to recorded texts, read books and magazines. It will help you to enlarge your vocabulary. Do a lot of exercises and tests. Talk in English with your friends and don’t be afraid to make mistakes.
