How to classify in set clauses?
- is based on the analogy between clauses and part of speech (categorical classification)
- the following clauses are distinguished. Noun clauses that which perform in the complex sentences the typical functions as a noun in a simple sentence.
According to Ильиш it’s not perfect.
Next classification is based on the analogy of clauses with positional parts of sentences.
- All clauses will be divided into subject clauses, Predicative, object, Attributive clause, adverbial clause.
There some difference in terminology of clauses.

- Subject clauses: WhatI want to do is to save us both
- Predicative clauses: What is puzzling me is why you want me now
- Object clause: I don’t know what are you talking about
- Adverbial: If I were you I should do it
- Attributive- Appositiveare clauses when the antecedent is an abstract noun.
Example: There was no reason (ab. noun.) why she shouldn’t read it.
Relative isone is qualifiedthe antecedent. This qualification can be лимитирующая (restrictive), не лимитирующая (nonrestrictive)
Example: All that could have done had been done.
Nonrestrictive qualification gives information (not obligatory)
Example: He went alone to the dining – room, where the table was late for one.
