How to classify in set clauses?

  1. is based on the analogy between clauses and part of speech (categorical classification)
  2. the following clauses are distinguished. Noun clauses that which perform in the complex sentences the typical functions as a noun in a simple sentence.

Next classification is based on the analogy of clauses with positional parts of sentences.

  1. All clauses will be divided into subject clauses, Predicative, object, Attributive clause, adverbial clause.

  5. Attributive- Appositiveare clauses when the antecedent is an abstract noun.

Example: There was no reason (ab. noun.) why she shouldn’t read it.

Relative isone is qualifiedthe antecedent. This qualification can be лимитирующая (restrictive), не лимитирующая (nonrestrictive)

Example: All that could have done had been done.

Nonrestrictive qualification gives information (not obligatory)

Example: He went alone to the dining – room, where the table was late for one.
