III. Именные безличные предложения
В предложениях, в которых нет подлежащего с предметным значением, роль формально-грамматического подлежащего выполняется местоимением it, которое на русский язык не переводится. Сказуемое в этих предложениях состоит из глагола-связки и именной части, выраженной прилагательным, существительным или числительным. Глаголами-связками могут быть глаголы to be, to getи другие. Глагол to beпередает значение состояния, глагол to getуказывает на переход из одного состояния в другое.
It is 5 o'clock now. Сейчас 5 часов.
It is winter now. Сейчас зима.
It waslate. Было поздно.
It getslight at 6 o'clock now. Сейчас светает в 6 часов.
Вопросительная и отрицательная формы образуются по общим правилам образования этих форм.
Is it winter now? Сейчас зима?
It was notdark at 5 o'clock last week. На прошлой неделе в 5 часов не
было темно.
When doesit getlight in winter? Когда светает зимой?
