Употребляются для выражения действий протекающих, длящихся или в настоящий момент, или в какой-то определенный момент прошедшего или будущего времени.
Настоящее длительное время (The Present Continuous Tense)
Образуется посредством вспомогательного глагола to be в настоящем времени (am, is, are)и причастия настоящего времени (Participle I).

Прошедшее длительное время (The Past Continuous Tense)
Образуется из вспомогательного глагола to beв Past Simple (was, were) и причастия настоящего времени.
