Smolensk University of Humanities

Smolensk University of Humanities is the first non-state institution of higher education in Smolensk. It was founded in 1992.

There are three departments at our University which train specialists in law, economy, psychology, geography and computer technologies.

The law department is a large one, it covers a wide range of specialist areas including family law, civil law, commercial, international and criminal law.

The Psychology department trains specialists in clinical psychology, general psychology and managerial psychology. The course of training lasts 5 years. The academic year consists of 2 terms which usually last from the 1^st of September till the end of December and from the beginning of February till the end of June.

Examinations take place at the end of each term. If a student fails in an examination, he may be allowed to take the exam again.

The students have at their disposal a great number of halls, classrooms and labs equipped with all sorts of facilities. In the library there are thousands of books on different subjects. SUH has access to Internet.

For those who are fond of poetry, art or dancing there are amateur groups where the students have every opportunity to develop their talents and follow their bent. SUH is the scene of numerous cultural activities organized by the Students' Council.
